THE ASHBURTON CLUB The Ashburton Golf Club’s medal matches on Saturday were adversely arfected by the boisterous weather, despite which a fair number of playeis took part. The strong southerly wind however, prevented good E ie senior match was won by B. Mebherry, and the junior match by E. Brophy, with a net score of 78 and 20 handicap. WELLINGTON, May 2

The women’s autumn foursomes golf final was played this morning, boisterous weather, with sleet and wind, making golf almost impossible. With their opponents 4 up and themselves two strokes to the had going to the thirteenth, Mrs Russell and Mrs Wilson gave up, Mrs Crombie and Mrs Turnbull thus winning. The winners’ performance under the

conditions prevailing was remarkably good, as they went out in 49, which included a seven.
