SCHOOL JUBILEE.

THE HAMPSTEAD FUNCTIONS. THE CONCLUDING CELEBRATION. The last of a series of functions to mark the golden jubilee of the Hampstead (Ashburton East) School was held in the Orange Hall last night when about 200 couples attended the jubilee ball, which was held to he the most successful function of the weekend. Excellent music was supplied by Mrs Mitchell’s orchestra. The grand march was led by Mr F. Pritcliaid (chairman of the Jubilee Committee) and Mrs E. B. Childs! 'Several old-time and novelty! dances were introduced. Messrs E. Harrison and R. Iveeley were M.C.’s. The chairman expressed the pleasure of the committee at such a large attendance, and he complimented them on their behaviour. The ball, he added, showed that the young people did know how to conduct themselves. Picnic i)n Domain. The picnic and sports meeting held in the Domain yesterday afternoon was concluded with two events for the adults, resulting as follow: Committeemen’s race—K. S. McEachen 1, K. Hepburn and E. Harrison (equal) 2. Wheelbarrow race—E. Harrison and Miss L. Robinson 1, It. Keeley and Mrs M. Keeley 2.
