RADIO LICENSE FEE.

NO REDUCTION LAST YEAR. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, March 9. The Government has decided that the radio license fee for the year commencing April 1 will he 2os, which is the same as last year. There was a 5s reduction a year ago, and the Broadcasting Board’s revenue appeared to he more than adequate, as its report showed revenue from fees at £164,928, and expenditure on programmes, plant, maintenance, salaries and power £76,730, while £60,000 was taken from revenue to meet capital expenditure and £23,348 for depreciation. There are 179,259 listeners’ licenses current. Though no announcement is available on the Government’s future radio policy, the decision ten maintain the license fee at what, in comparison to other countries, is a. high rate, suggests that provision is being made to assist the B stations from license revenue, thus reducing the amount payable direct to the hoard by the Post Office, which is the collecting authority.-
