SERVICE TO START ON MARCH 16. SEVERAL CENTRES TO BE LINKED ;Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, March 6. The air mail service connecting several centres in the Dominion will begin on March 16. Speaking of the inauguration of the service, the Hon F. Jones (PostmasterGeneral) said that the Government had approved of his proposal that the services of Cook Strait Airways and Union Airways be used on the following routes: —Union Airways: Palmerston North - Blenheim - Christchurch - Dunedin and vice versa. Cook Strait Airways : Wellington - Blenheim - Nelson and vice versa. Mr Jones said it was proposed to make the special rate for air mail transit 2d for each ounce. That would, of course, include ordinary postage. The Minister said; the position will be reviewed at the end of three months, by which time it will be possible to know how the public uses the service and whether it should be continued.
