THE WEATHER.
WARM CONDITIONS CONTINUE. Warm sunny weather recently experienced in Ashburton continued to-day, when the sky was cloudless in the morning and there was scarcely any wind. The maximum temperature yesterday was 70 degrees and the minimum last night 49 degrees. Barometric pressure at 9 o’clock this morning was 29.73 inches, compared, with 29.91 inches yesterday morning. TO DAY’S FORECAST. (Per Press Association). WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather; — General inference; The northern depression is moving south-eastward past East Cape, and a slight westerly depression is crossing the South Island. Conditions are disturbed, off the central east coast of Australia. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru as follows: Light to moderate variable winds, north-easterly prevailing at first, later backing to southerly. Weather mainly fair to cloudy, but a few scattered rains probable. Seas slight to moderate.
