MOUNT HUTT DISTRICT
DECISIONS OF THE ROAD BOARD. The monthly meeting of the Mount Hutt Road Board was presided over by the chairman (Mr A, F. Marr). 'A motion of sympathy with Mrs Kilworth in the death of her husband was carried in silenee. The clerk reported that some scouring of roads in the Back Track area and Cairnbrae-Highbank had, taken place owing to the floods, and repairs had been effected. The Pudding Hill Stream had washed away approaches to the homestead, while other washouts had occurred on the D'uuble Hill Road. Repairs would be effected as early as possible. Tenders had been called for the shingling of the Lip Road. Grading had, been done in Methven township, Barker's, Watson's, O'Brien's and Marr's roads. The clerk reported that the Farm Lands special subsidy of 12£ per cent., amounting to £203 18s Id, had "been received. It was reported that five men were on the register at present for unemployment relief. Wages amounted to £2l Is for the month, and £1157 8s had been paid out since last April. It was also reported that rates amounting to £1524 5s had been collected to date, leaving the sum of £226 2s 10c! outstanding. The Minister for Labour advised that the statutory half-holiday for the district had been fixed for Saturday. Transfers from the executors of the late J. Hibbs toi Norah P. Owers, T. Ross to W. N. Duff, and transfer of lease from J. Stone, Ltd., to DaJgety and Co. were approved.
