CONVERSION OF CAR.

CONVICTED ON THREE CHARGES. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, March 4. A recent accident on the Hutt Road was recalled in the, Magistrate's Court to-day, when Patrick Hassett, a slaughterman, aged 25, pleaded guilty to charges of the conversion of a car, of being intoxicated while driving, and of driving without a license. Senior-Sergeant Dempsey said that the accused, after having drinks, had taken a baby car from Bond Street, and .had driven towards Petone at between 45 and 50 miles an hour. When on the wrong side of the road he collided with an oncoming car. Hassett was convicted on all three charges, and sentenced to six months' imprisonment on the first count, and ordered to come up for sentence if called upon within 12 months on the second, and discharged on the third.
