STRIKE VIOLENCE.
NEW YORK BUILDING SERVICE. LOYAL WORKERS BEATEN. (United Press Association—Copyright.) NEW YORK, Marcli 3. While the Mayor (Mr F. H. La Guardia) conferred, with representatives of both sides, the strike of building service employees in flats and office and warehouse buildings continued with increasing instances of violence and sabotage, in spite of the efforts of the police. Violence reported in. various parts of the city took several forms. AVorkers were kidnapped from Hat buildings by groups of strikers travelling in taxis, others were beaten for failure to join the strike. Considerable damage was done in several buildings where strikers destroyed valuable fixtures and furniture. .
A message published oh Tuesday stated that the Building Service Union had called a strike in New York of about 20,000 lift-operators, porters and telephone switchboard operators. For months the union had been in conflict with landlords over the wages and hours of work agreement.
