McKenzie, aged 65, works manager at the “New Zealand Sun” newspaper, Auckland, died in the hospital this morning from injuries to his head, fracture of both legs, and shock. Mr McKenzie joined the staff of the paper in 1905. He was a keen yachtsman and bowler. 'He leaves a widow and three daughters. The death also occurred at the hospital this morning of Mr J. W. Beeston, an elderly man, a pedestrian, who was struck by a ear in the Manukau Road on Sunday.

WOMAN’S NARROW ESCAPE. FELL UNDER TRAIN. TIMARU, February 24. Miss J. M. Hood, of 39, Bank Street, lay between the edge of the platform at the Timaru railway station and the permanent way while two cars of this morning’s south-bound express passed her. Miss Hood stepped from a carriage as the train, moving slowly, drew into the station about two o’clock this morning. Evidently stunned by the fall, she lay, prone and parallel with the track, two first-class carriages rolling slowly past her before the train came to a halt. It was stated that her back had been severely injured. KNOCKED DOWN BY CAR. AUCKLAND, Feb. 24. Knocked down by a motor-car at the intersection of the Great South road and Manukau road last evening, an elderly man, Mr John W. Beeston, of Epsom, suffered a fracture of the skull and other injuries. His condition today is serious.

GIRL KILLED IN COLLISION. INVERCARGILL, Feb. 24. Elies road, near Rugby Park, was the scene of a fatal accident this evening. At 8 o’clock a car driven by a young man, Mr .J. C. B. Glass, collided with a cyclist, Joan Lorraine Nicholson, aged 16, a daughter of Mr J. R. Nicholson, of Invercargill, who suffered severe injuries to her head, and died while being taken to hospital. The motorist and cyclist were travelling in opposite directions. The right head lamp of the car struck the cycle, and the rider was thrown violently against the windscreen, which was broken.
