David Frankfurter, the Jugoslavian who shot elead Wilhelm Gustloff, a German subject and leader of Swiss Nazis, at Davos, is reported to.be a Jew. Abandoning liis hat. he ran to the police station, brandishing a re-, volver at a passer-by who tried to stop him. He told the police that he had never mixed in politics, and had, no motive except resentment against the German system. Gustloff is reported, to have abused Swiss hospitality, conspiring to recapture German refugees. Frankfurter insists that he had no personal reasons for shooting Gustloff. He was not inspired by any organisation. He added that it would have, been better had the bullets . struck Hitler.

It is disclosed that Frankfurter is suffering'from an incurable bone dis-. ease, and was recently told an operation was necessary,... He told his landlady he did hot consider life worth living in the circumstances. Frankfurter told the police that he killed Gustloff because he was poisoning the atmosphere of Switzerland with propaganda, from a country where Jews were not allowed to lead a normal life.

VENGEANCE FOR JEWISH RACE, LONDON, February 4. The Baule correspondent says that he frankly told the police that Ins crime was an act of vengeance for the Jewish race.
