M.C.C. MATCH ABANDONED. PLAYERS’ CLOTHES SATURATED. PALMERSTON .February 5. Mr A. M. Ongley (president of the Manawatu Cricket Association) announced that the Marylebone Cricket Club team w T as unable to continue the game against Manawatu through the players’ clothes and, gear having been soaked in a storm last night. The match lias been abandoned. The gear was stored in the dressingrooms in the grandstand at the sports ground overnight, when there was a heavy downpour of rain. The playing area as saturated. SHEFFIELD SHIELD MATCH. VICTORIA BEATS QUEENSLAND. BRISBANE, Feb. 5. In the Sheffield Shield match against Victoria, Queensla'nd (first innings 194) in the second innings declared with 478 for six (Hansen 72; Cook not out 56). Bowling: Gregory two for 80, Plant two for 81, Welch two for 116. Victoria (first innings 446), in the
second innings made 179 for two (Bigg not out 78, Lee 43, Seaife not out 46). Bowling: Gilbert one for 31, Wyeth one for 39. Victoria won on the first innings.
