WOUNDS FATAL.

VICTIM OF MELBOURNE BANDITS (United Press Association—Copyright! MELBOURNE, February 2. Mr James Scriven, aged 64, the victim of shooting by bandits on I riday evening, is dead.

Two bandits shot an armed escort in tho head in the city and; escaped with a bag containing £IBOO, the takings of the Stamps Office for the day. The hold-up was aniost daring one and took place in a crowded street. Scriven, r> tmg as escort, was entering a taxi in which a clerk from the office of the Controller of Stamps was seated, a money bag between his loot. After the shooting the bandits seized the bag and escaped in a ear driven by a. third man. The taxi driver pursued the car, which was soon lost in the traffic.
