THE WEATHER.
WARM CONDITIONS TO-DAY. The morning in Ashburtcn was warm, the sun shining brightly, while the sky was fairly cloudy. A light south-east-erly breeze was blowing. The day was ccol anu dull again yesterday, the maximum temperature being 68 degrees, while the minimum last night was 54.9 degrees. A rising tendency in the barometer continues, the pressure at 9 o'clock this morning being 29.81 inches, compared with 29.76 yesterday morning. TO-DAY'S FORECAST. (Per Press Ansociation.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather:— General inference: Pressure is fairly high over the North Island, but a depression is located over the Tasman Sea and is beginning to affect the South Island. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows: — Light to moderate but freshening northerly to north-westerly winds. Weather fair and warm. Seas becoming rough north of Kaikoura, elsewhere slight to moderate.
