STOCK FROM BRITAIN.
AUSTRALIA WANTS MORE. GOVERNMENT SUBSIDY PLANNED. (United -Press Association—Copyright.) SYDNEY, Jan. 9.
Plans to encourage the importation of pedigree stock from Britain to improve Australian herds are announced by the Department of Commerce. The assistance will take the form of a contribution towards the expenses of importing pedigree cattle, sheep, goats, and pigs, but no assistance will be given towards the cost of the animals themselves. The shipping companies have agreed to make certain concessions in freight.
