The New Zealand heavy-weight championship record in weight-lifting was unofficially broken’ in Napier this evening by the substantial margin, of 15 pounds, when Dennod Kavanagh, a 24-year old athlete, lifted 2251 b in the orthodox manner and held the weights above his head for the required period. N'O l'ecognised referee was available, so that Kavanagh cannot look for official recognition of his feat.
