Jamieson (the New Zealand trainer) was given a complimentary dinner at the Australia Hotel by his sporting friends and club mates. The function was largely' attended. The presentation of a canteen of cutlery and plate was made to Jamieson and Mrs Jamieson, and opportunity was taken to tender good wishes to J. Jamieson, junior, who was being married in Sydney to-night. Air and Airs Jamieson will return to New Zealand on Thursday. The jockey, Sharpe, who rode seven winners in seven starts yesterday, fell from his horse in a race at Richmond early in the year, fracturing his spine, and six months ago it was believed he would never ride again. He is now 26 years of age, and has ridden more than 600 winners. His performance equals the New Zealand and Australian record held by W. Thomas, who rode all seven winners at Townsville on July 27, 1929, and Albert Whittaker, who rode all seven winners at Huntly, New Zealand, on February 19, 1910. What is pi'obably an Australian record was established by a mare, Sydney Belle, at the Burragorang Valley picnic races on Boxing Day. There were six races on the programme, Sydney Belle winning each of the four in which she ran. She was ridden on each occasion by W. Hopping, who also scored on his only other mount during the afternoon. Burragorang Valley is a holiday resort, about 40 miles from Sydney. REEFTON JOCKEY CLUB, TROTTING EVENTS HANDICAPS.
