Klavern proved a solid opponent, but was handicapped by a cut eye from which blood continually flowed. Carroll, being fleet-footed, was better suited by the wet ring. In the light-weight championship, the title-holder, Herb Bishop (9st 81b), lost in the seventh round to Alf Blatch (9st 71b) on a technical knock-out. In the bantam-weight championship, Bobby Clements (B'st) won the title from Micky Miller (Bst Ijjlb) in a 10 round bout.
