GAS POISONING
YOUTH’S DEATH AT DUNEDIN. MOTHER AND SISTER ILL. OVERCOME IN, THEIR SLEEP. (Per Press Association.) DUNEDIN, This Day. Mr Kenneth Godwin, aged 15, a linotype mechanic, is dead, and his mother, Annie Godwin, aged 38, and liis sister Nancy, aged 10, are iii hospital in a serious condition as the result of gas poisoning at No. 49 Arthur Street. The family took possession of the house only on Saturday and the disconnected gas and electric fittings were to bo reconnected this morning. When a plumber arrived at 10 o’clock he failed to get a response. He looked through the letter slit and saw a woman’s body in the hall. Entry was forced and the woman was found unconscious, and the girl in the same, state in bed. The whole house was full of gas, a lead tap sealing the inlet having been removed. Later the body of the boy was found in an upstairs bedroom. All were in their night attire and evidently were overcome during sleep.
