PRESENTATION OF PRIZES. SPORTS HELD AT WAKANUI. The annual break-up and distribution of prizes of the Wakanui School was held in the school grounds on. Thursday afternoon, when there was a good attendance of parents and friends. After an inspection of the school gardens, a programme of swimming, running and novelty events was carried out under the direction of the School Committee. After afternoon tea, the prizes, proficiency certificates and attendance certificates were presented by the chairman (Mr J. C. Sinclair). On behalf of the pupils, Henry Sinclair presented Mr P. McLauelilan, who has been relieving teacher for the past year, with a music case and pencil in appreciation of the help he had given them. Ladies’’ Walk—Mrs Hyland 1. LOWCLIFFE. The annual break-up ceremony of the Lowcliffo School was held on Thursday afternoon. There was a good attendance of children and parents. As is customary a book was given to each child. For the infants there was a Christmas tree, from which Father Christmas distributed gifts. Six Standard VI. certificates were presented. Mr Tait proposed a hearty vote of thanks to the teachers for their interest in the children. Races were run and a dainty afternoon tea handed round.
