Applications for awards were dealt with by the court of directors of the Royal Humane Society of New Zealand yesterday. Bronze Medal Awards. .Bronze medal awards were':—-. Gladys Rowe, who rescued Donald Holkins from an attack by a bull at Alead, February 10. 1935. Richard Robert Hull, who rescued Arthur Alorrison from drowning and attempted to rescue George McKay from drowning at Evans Bay, Wellington, August 30, 1935. Certificates Awarded. Framed certificates were awarded to tho following:— Ronald Francis Latimer, who rescued Horace William Wood from drowning at Timavu, October 25, 1931. Lindsay Warmington, who attempted to rescue Robert Cameron Cuthbert from drowning at Alangawhaie, Apiil 28, 1935. Percy Alorris McGonclne, who at tempted to rescue Hector William Goidon Robertson from drowning at Nelson, October 28, 1935. James A!. C. Kevin, who rescued James Herbert AlcFaul from drowning at Governor’s Bay, November 23, 1935. AlcFaul was unconscious and finally died. . It was decided that a certificate ot notification should in future be awarded with all medals. The quick thought and courage of a 12-year-old girl, Gladys Rowe, on Sunday evening, February 10, saved the life of a farm worker, Air D. Hopkins, who was being savagely attacked by a bull at Air Breading’s, Alead. Air Hopkins was on the ground, and the bull Avas charging when the little girl, at the risk of her own life, Jaced tlxe bull and fought it ofF with a pitchfork. Mr Hopkins, who is employed at Mr Breading’s, saw the (bull feeding at a wheat-stack, and attempted to drive it aivay. His efforts infuriated the bull, Avhich turned on him. Without even a stick Avithi which to. protect lumself, Air Hopkins was knocked to the ground, and there made a fight for Ins life. Gladvs is a daughter of Air R. Roue, a sheepfarmer of Bankside.
