THE WEATHER
ANOTHER WARM DAY. The warm weather experienced in Ashburton during the last few days continued to-day. The sun shone from a cloudless sky, and the temperature was high, although there was a light north-easterly breeze. The barometric pressure at 9 a.m. was 30.03 inches. The maximum temperature yesterday was 72.8 degrees, and the minimum last night 53.4 degrees. The temperature at 2 p.m. to-day was 80.5 degrees. At 2.30 the temperature had increased to 81.1 degrees, the highest recorded this summer. TO-DAY’S FORECAST. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather: — General inference: A fairly intense anti-cyclone still covers New Zealand, but a shallow depression is located in the central portion of the Tasman Sea. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows:
Light to moderate northerly winds, gradually freshening. Weather fine, warm and hazy. Seas smooth, to moderate.
