NOT ANY HOPE

FATE OF KINGSFORD SMITH. every island searched. (United Press Association-—Copyright) DARWIN, November 29. Mr C. J. Melrose said; “I do not think there is any hope of finding Sir Charles Kingsford Smith. He probably came down at sea.” Mr Melrose added that every island in the vicinity of the Victoria Peninsula has been searched. There was no foundation for the recent rumours of a ’plane having been seen. The natives probably picked up some leaflets dropped from the ’planes and made reports in the hope of getting the reward offered.
