ST. JAMES THEATRE. Bigger, better and more magnificent than any of the productions that have annually amazed Broadway’s musical playgoers for the past 15 years, George White’s “Sandals,” the latest, release of the Fox Film Studio will conclude its Ashburton season at the St. James Theatre to-night. Throughout an array of comedy, beauty, dancing and songs runs a romantic tale of interest. It is the love of two of the principals in the show. A scheming debutante threatens to steer this romance on to the rocks and at the same time ruin the show, but a clever plan aevised by the producer saves both romance and show. 1 MAJESTIC THEATRE. “A Lost Lady,” the First National production with Barbara Stanwyck in the role, concludes at the Majestic Theatre tq-night. Based on the popular novel by the internationally famous Willa Cather, the plot combines dynamic drama with a most unusual romance. Less than 48 hours before her marriage, Marian Ormsby (played by Miss Stanwyck) is informed that her fiance has been killed bj - the husband of a woman with whom lie has been having an affair. Shattered in body, mind and spirit by the tragedy, Marian is sent to the mountains by her uncle, but remains apathetic. Falling down a canyon she is rescued by a leading corporation lawyer, who falls in love with her. Marian offers to marry) him on conditions that honesty, rather than love, shall guide their home, as she believes she can nevfer love again.
