GAMING ACT BREACHES

A WOMAN FINED £lO. (Per Press Association.) DUNEDIN, Nov. 14. In the Magistrate’s Court this afternoon, hefore Mr J. R. Bartholomew, S.M., Martha McCluskey, a widow, aged 42, pleaded guilty to using a dwelling-house in Castle Street as a common gaming house. The police stated that from the betting material seized to-day it was evident that the defendant conducted a fairly extensive business. A telephone and table were installed in a front room. A fine of £lO was imposed, 14 days being allowed for payment, after defendant had said she was not an agent but was “on her own.”

TWO DANNEVIRKE MEN FINED.

DANNEVIRKE, Nov. 14. Pleading guilty to having used their respective premises as common gaming houses, Peter Bouzair, a, printer, and Albert Parr Whalley, a labourer, were fined *£3o and £25 respectively by Mr J. L. Scott, S.M.
