Rioting broke out when the students and a vast crowd! gathered eutside the Wafd headquarters and heard a fiery speech fitom the Wafd’ secretary. ' .The crowd yelled “Down with England and Sir Samuel Hoare,” (this in allusion to Sir Samuel Hoax-o’ls speech last'Saturday, especially the paesage in which he denied his oppositien to ceustitutional regime but, admitted that'Fßritain when consulted advised against re-enactment of the Constitution of 19234and1 1930, because the first had proved unworkable and the second unpopular). ' The mob' resented pbliee intervention. Fierce fights resulted, 20 policemen and 21 students being sent to hospital. There was a similar outbreak, at Tanta where one was killed and ,three seriously wounded when the ..police fired. Forty-five policemen were injured in the afternoon when exhorting the crowd to be calm. V . . V
