CORRI£DALE HOGGETS UP TO 475. SHEEP OF EXCELLENT QUALITY. The most important and most successful. clearing sale held in the Ashburton County in the last six years or so took place at Lauriston yesterday, Avhen Messrs Pyne, Gould, Guinness, Ltd., and the National Mortgage and Agency Company of NeAV Zealand, Ltd., in conjuncton, auctioned on behalf of Mr E. F. Niooll a large number of sheep of exceptionally fine quality. There Avas a particularly large attendance, and buyers Avere present from North and South Canterbury. Great interest was taken in the offering, and bidding throughout Avas spirited, with the result that very satisfactory prices AA r ere realised. The sheep Avere a particularly good line, produced in excellent order, and Avere favourably commented upon by farmers from all over Canterbury. The highest price realised for flock eAves in the County for many years Avas obtained when £2 7s each was paid for 202 Corriedale hoggets. The purchaser Avas Mr J. H. Muirhead (Lagmher). The sheep Avere of exceptional quality, being evenly Avoolled and Avell groAvn. Other prices Avere £2 4s 3d and £2 4s, these lots being purchased for North Canterbury. The flock, Avliieh comprised about 4000 eAves and lambs, all counted, Avas one of the best quality offered for a long time at a clearing sale at Ashburton. The range of prices, all counted, Avas up to £1 7s 3d for one-shear eAA-es Avith lambs, £1 17s for one-shear eAves in lamb, 18s 9d for three-shear eAA r es and lambs, 17s 4d for five-shear gavgs and lambs, and 15s 6d for aged eAves and lambs.
