BIBLE CLASS RALLY

PRESBYTERIAN GATHERING.

MEETING AND SPORTS. The Ashburton Presbyterian Bible Class District Committees held their annual rally at Hinds. The rally commenced with a short devotional service in the Public Hall, conducted by* the local Bible Class leader (Mr E. Hamilton). This meeting was followed by another in charge of the president of the Combined District Committees (Mr L. Houston). The address, “Making Lifo a Masterpiece,” was given by the Rev. D. B. Ashford, of Rakaia. In the afternoon, sports were held in the Domain.

The Young Women’s Bible Classes held a. basketball tournament, six teams entering. St. Andrew’s A (Ashburton) were winners and thus are the holders of the Watson Cup for the year. In the men’s section the results were:—

100 Yards—St. Andrew’s Junior L Rakaia 2, St. Andrew’s Senior 43. 440 Yards—-Rakaia 1, St. Andrew's Senior 2, St. Andrew’s Junior 3. Relay Rakaia 1, St. Andrew’s Junior 2, St. Andrew’s Senior 3. Hop, Step, Jump—St. Andrew’s Senior 1, Methven 2, St. Andrew’s Junior 3.

Standing Jump—St. Andrew’s Senior and Methven (equal) 1, St. Andrew’s Senior and Methven (equal) 3. Distance Stepping—Hinds 1, Methven 2 -and 3.

Later the young; women returned to the hall for a sectional meeting, which was addressed by Mrs D. B. Ashford. The young men gathered at the church, being addressed by the Rev. D. D. MaeLachla.n. The final meeting, a combined one in the hall, was presided over by the Rev. R, S. Watson. The Roll' Call showed that over 200 were present. The address was given by Mr MaoLachlan, who took as his subject, “Is Lifo Worth-while?” Lunch and tea were served on tables in the shade outside the hall. During the tea session Mrs R.. S. Watson presented the Watson Cup to the captain of the St. Andrew’s team. Votes of thanks concluded the gathering-
