ITALIAN CLAIMS DISCOUNTED.
ONLY AN Ana RECONNAISSANCE.
IMMOBILE NORTH OF MAKALE. LONDON, October 28. Ras Seyourn telegraphed to headquarters saying that the Italians aie immobile in their present positions north of Makale. He is remaining between them and that town, apparently unaware of the Black Shirt advance to points 20 miles south-east of Adowa. Ras Ayalou sent a message from the Sudan-Eritrean border, which officials believe discounts the Italian claims that the Abyssinians were defeated in the Setit River attack. Ras Ayalou merely reports that two hostile aeroplanes carried out a reconnaissance without using bombs or machine-guns.
