BOMBED BY ITALIANS.
STRONGLY-FORTIFIED TOWN.
ABYSSINIAN CONCENTRATION. 0 (Received This Day, 11.18 a.m.) ROME, October 29. Italian ’planes bombed Magalo, 250 miles south of Addis Ababa. The pilots assert that Magalo is strongly fortified and there is a large Abyssinian concentration in the vicinity.
NO CEDING OF TERRITORY.
EVERY SOLDIER MUST BE WITHDRAWN.
(Received This Day, 10. a.m.) LONDON, October 20. Tecla Hawariat, who was transferred from the post of Abyssinian delegate to the League of Nations to take command of an army, has arrived at Djibouti. He says that Abyssinia will not consider any diplomatic settlement until every Italian soldier is withdrawn. It is a mistake to assume acceptance of any cession of territory to Italy.
COUNT VINCI A BROKEN MAN. “SOMETHING WENT WRONG.” (Received This Day, 10.0 a.m.) DJIBOUTI, October 29. Mr Noel Monks (the “Suh-Herald” correspondent, states that by special permission of the Emperor he was allowed to travel from Addis Ababa with Count Vinci (the Italian Minister who recently left the country). In Count Vinci’s carriage there travelled oU Abvssinian soldiers, as it was feared that savage tribes en route might attack him. Tj n Count Vinci is a broken man. Ho is unable to understand why Abyssinia has not already been conquered. “It should have taken only two weeks; something has gone wrong, he told Mr Monks.
