WOMAN ACCUSED

ALLEGED ATTEMPTED MURDER.

TWO CHILDREN INVOLVED

A tragic discovery was made at the residence of George Fitzmaurice, in Trent Street, on September 12. Fitzmaurice, who is employed at Hillgrove, left home on the previous Monday and on the following. Thursday neighbours discovered Mrs Fitzmaurice in bed ill, with a dead son, James, aged seven months, in her .arms, and two other children in a weak state.

To-day, before Justices of the Peace, Cecily Fitzmaurice, aged 34, was charged that on September- 10 she attempted to murder Nancy Eileen Fitzmaurice. She was remanded to appear at Dunedin on November 1. Other charges are probable. Poisoning is alleged.
