PROSPECTS STABLE

MUTTON AND LAMB MARKETS MORE DEMAND IN BRITAIN. LAMB GAINING IN FAVOUR. (United Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 12.30 p.m,) LONDON, October 7. The Imperial Economic Committee’s world survey of mutton and lamb considers that meat prospects should be comparatively stable. The demand for mutton and lamb in Britain has risen considerably, partly offsetting the decline in the consumption of beef and veal. Requirements of frozen mutton and lamb are likely to continue relatively high in Britain, which is virtually the world’s sole market for surplus supplies, of which three-quarters came from Australia and New Zealand last year. Lamb is tending to replace mutton owing to the changed! tastes in Britain.
