Miss Dennis’ indisposition may effect her selection for the Olympic team. Her future as a swimmer depends on the success of an operation for the removal of abscesses on her feet.
The trouble has already cost her two months away from work. ' _ Miss Dennis, who is Olympic 200 metres breaststroke record holder , hopes to start training within a couple of months. Her objective is the Australian National Gaines carnival in Adelaide at the end of January, which are, virtually, the try-outs for the 1936 Berlin Olympiad. After that she is likely to retire. “You can’t go swimming for ever,” said Miss Dennis. I’ve had so many trips that it is about time someone else shared my good fortune. Perhaps it may be my younger sister Betty. She is showing great style and promises to do big things as a breaststroke swimmer.”
