FRENCH ROYALIST DEMONSTRATION. PRESS PANIC ATTACK ON BRITAIN. (Received This Day, 12.30 p.m.) PARIS, October 3. Mr Eden and M. Laval conferred for 75 minutes. , M. Laval subsequently announced that he had discussed the procedure at the Council meeting, and envisioned various methods. The two statesmen will continue the conference at Geneva.

It is understood that M. Laval emphasised the necessity for France and Britain maintaining calm, doing their utmost to prevent the conflict extending to Europe. Nationalist newspapers are almost panic-strickenly , attacking Britain, frantically appealing to M. Laval to refuse sanctions against Italy. Seventy “Extreme Right" intellectuals, including M. Leon Doubet (the Royalist leader), have issued a manifesto opposing anti-Italian action. They declare they do not wrnnt sanction's or

war against a nation which has assisted in defending France’s sacred soil. Royalists, in an anti-war demonstration, marched along the boulevards shouting: “Down with sanctions”; “Long live neutrality.” Fourteen were arrested.

ITALIANS MOBBED AT TOULOUSE. (Received This Day, 9.15 a.m.) PARIS, October 3. At Toulouse the police were obliged to protect 50 Italians who were returning to Italy to answer the call to arms. They were mobbed 1 by angry French demonstrators.
