To-night the liner transferred her passengers to the rescue ship, Ariguard , Which put out from Kingston. Two hundred and fifty of the crew were also taken off, leaving 276, who are not believed to be in immediate danger. aboard, . The passengers took the shipwreck without panic, and they changed ships without mishap and with perfect discipline. The cause ,of the grounding is nor known. It is not attributed to the hurricane at the week-end, as the Rotterdam was coming up behind it and the sea was smoothed into comparative calm after the storm that inflicted damage amounting to 1,250,000 dollars to Jamaica’s banana crops, though a swell was still running. Messages from the Ariguaiii repot ed that the Rotterdam was pounding lightly, leaks had opened m the bottom and the vessel was taking, water in foul compartments. Almost the full length of the ship was lying on the jagged reef.
