TINWALD STOCK MARKET.

PRICES VARY TO SMALL EXTENT.

VERY GOOD ENTRY TO-DAY. The improved quality of the fat sheep was an outstanding feature at the fortnightly market at Tinwald today. In this respect the entry was one of the best seen at the yards for some time. Competition was confined chiefly to local butchers, and as the entry* was more than necessary for their requirements, there was practically no change in prices, although the average rates were higher than those recorded at Ashburton last week. Extra prime young ewes made up to 27s 10a, which was realised by Mr .1. Davidson, Maronan, for a pen of five, while J. W. Withell, Ealing, sold five at 27s 4d, and W. E. Horrell, Lagmhor, five at 26s 4d.

The estate of V. W. Wright (Lagmhor), topped the fat wether section with four at 31s lOd, the next best price, 31s 4d, going to W. Henderson (Windermere). One shorn ewe sold on account client brought 15s 7d, and four shorn wethers 18s Id. A lot of 20 shorn fat wethers was passed at 20s. There was a fair attendance of fanners.

THE LONDON WOOL SALES.

FULL RATES MAINTAINED. (Received This Day, 11.35 a.m.) LONDON, September 30. At the wool sales 6932 bales were offered 1 , including 3778 New Zealand, and about 5470 Australian and 1 New Zealand were sold. There was active homo and Continental competition " at full rates. New Zealand greasy merinos Rand Company over T sold up to 22d, with an average of 21 Jd; greasy merino halfbred Montalto I4jd and *l3|d; greasy crossbred Taurimu 9jd and 9jd. At * Bradford, merinos are barely steady. Crossbreds firm at full rates.

THE MELBOURNE WOOL SALE .HIGHER PRICES AT OPENING. (Received This Day, 10 a.m.) MELBOURNE, This Day. The wool sales opened under keen competition, and prices for good wools were firm, being from 15 to 25 per cent, higher than at the opening sales last season. The highest price of the day was 19}-d per lb for merino wool. WHEAT PRICES IN BRITAIN. (Received This Day, 11.35 a.m.) LONDON, September 30. Wheat cargoes are quiet and cheaper. Parcels are easier. Futures are quoted:—London: September 28s per quarter. Liverpool: October 6s 881 d per cental, December 6s 3|d.
