Mr L. F. Grimstone town clerk at Motueka for the last three and a half years, was appointed town clerk from 34 applicants at a special meeting of the Geraldine Borough Council on Friday afternoon. Mr Grimstone, who was born at Wellington, served in the •Second! and Eighth Contingents in the South African War. Before his appointment at Motueka he was for six years town clerk to the. Upper Hutt Borough Council, a position he resigned in order to go into partnership in a land agency business. Mr Grimstone has taken a keen interest in the affahrs of Motueka, and was secretary of the Progress League.
