TENNIS.

THE SPRINGBURN CLUB. The annual meeting of the Springburn Tennis Club was held in the school on Wednesday evening, Mr J. M. Bruce presiding. Three resignations were accepted and six new members appointed. The report stated that no matches had been played, and the court had not been well patronised, but that the financial position was good, there being £h in hand. It was decided to open the season on Saturday, October 12, with a set between the president and the captain, and to buy a hew net, a table for the pavilion, and new balls, and also to go into the cost of a second court. The Itey. A. A. C. Lion agreed to interview the Power Board on the matter of flood-lighting the court. It was decided to place on record appreciation of the work of Mr K. I. Robertson, and the secretary (Miss E. Christiansen) was voted £1 Is in appreciation of her work. Mr Bruce was appointed trustee of the bank account. It was resolved to write asking Mr T. D l . Burnett, M.P., to accept the office of patron. The following officers were elected: —President, Mr J. M. Bruce ; vice-president, Mr J. Fagan; captain, Mr D. Grieve; 'vice-captain, Mr A. Fagan; secretary, Miss E. Christiansen; committee, Messrs L. Roberts, M. Johnstone, J. Taylor and the Rev. A. A. C. Lion.

THE RAKAIA CLUB.

Mr C. J. Ryan presided at a meeting of the committee of the Rakaia Tennis Club, held in tho library on Wednesday evening. It- was decided to open the season on Saturday, October 5, instead of October 12, as previously arranged. It was left with Mr 1). P. Henderson to arrange the programme lor opening day. Mr MeAnulty’s tender for the position of caretaker was accepted.

THE LAURISTON CLUB.

The annual meeting of the Lauriston Tennis Club was presided oyor by Mr C. A. Fyfe.

The report showed that last season had been a successful and happy one. The balance-sheet, presented by the treasurer (Miss E. Lemon) showed that the finances were in a sound position. The election of officers resulted : Patron, Mr J. Connolly, M.P.; president, Mr C. A. Fyfe; vice-presidents, Messrs G. Farquhar, W. W. Goodwin, S. G. Lemon, J. Hampton, W. D. Brunsden, A. T. Maidens and G. Letham ; secretary, Miss E, Maidens; treasurer, Miss E. Lemon; club captain, Mr Forrest Letham; auditor, Mr D. Hampton; delegates, Messrs JD. Hampton and W. Lemon; committee, Mrs It. F. Letham, Miss A. Hampton, Miss D. Maidens, Messrs J. A. Mackie, D. Hampton, W. Lemon and E. McNeill.

It was decided to hold opening day on Saturday, October 12, and to hold a dance in the evening. A working bee was arranged for next Thursday.
