CONTINGENT BEQUEST

AUCKLAND CHURCH SCHOOL. ESTATE WORTH OVER £22,000. (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, September 26. A very large contingent bequest, consisting of the whole of the testator’s New Zealand estate, valued conservatively at more than £22,000, lias been made to the Auckland Diocesan Girls’ High School by Archdeacon R. formerly Archdeacon of Taranaki*, who died in' Auckland in September, 1934. The bequest is subject to the life interest of the archdeacon’s daughters, and to- another contingency, the possibilities of which cannot be ascertained for some considerable tyric. If this contingency docs not materialise, the school will ultimately receive a very valuable addition to its resources.

Archdeacon Cole made no stipulations as to the use that may he made of the bequest, hut expressed the wish that the school council should apply a sum annually, whenever practicable, toward the maintenance and education of daughters of poor clergy actively engaged in the dioceses of Auckland and Waikato.

Archdeacon Cole had completed 50 years in the Anglican ministry at the time of his death. From 1903 until 1912, when he retired on account of ill-health, ho was Archdeacon of Taranaki.
