ST. JAMES THEATRE. The sensational new child star, Freddie Bartholomew, will be seen on the screen at the St. Janies Theatre finally to-night in “David Copperfield.” Little Freddie has been compared to Jackie Coogan when he rocketed to fame with Chaplin in “The Kid” some years ago. He plays the boy “David Copperfield” as his first appearance on the screen appearing w’itli a cast of sixty-five stars and featured players in the principal roles. Produced by David 0. Selznick and directed by George Cuka|r for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, “David Co.pperfield” is hailed as one of the finest pictures of all time.
FOUR PLAYS TO-NIGHT. Lovers of comedy, drama, and thrills will all be catered for this evening at the Repertory Society’s production of four one-act plays. Tire bracket of plays which has been selected combine to give a vivid and attractive programme. The improved facilities at the jSociety’s new headquarters, the Majestic Theatre, should lead to even increased efficiency. About 30 members of the Society have been cast. Two period plays lend 1 an opportunity of adding that touch of colour which is often lacking in amateur performances. As usual the pleasure of the perform:uice will be enhanced by the orchestra, under the baton of Hr. N. E. H. Fulton, w’hieh w r ill render a number of items.
