GALE IN BRITAIN
MUCH DAMAGE CAUSED. (United Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, September 19. High winds have done much damage in various parts of the country. To-day at the Tham Show, in Oxfordshire, the largest one-day agricultural show held in Great Britain, the proceedings were brought to a standstill by the havoc of the gale. Tents and booths were blown down and severa 1 people suffered minot injuries. A 400-I'oot marquee housing the floral exhibits was blown down and hundreds of pounds worth of damage was done to precious blooms. A storm in the Channel caused the luxury steamer Queen of the Channel to turn back when she was an a pleasure cruise from Margate to Calais. British Official Wireless.
