The procedure to be followed in raising a loan of £200,000 for the proposed workers dwellings scheme caused considerable discussion at tlie meeting of the City Council to-night, there being a difference of opinion whether an application should me made to obtain the money required by the authoi its of a poll of the- ratepayers of by a special order under the authority ferred by section 331 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933. It was resolved that application be made to the .liooal Government Loans Hoard to raise <ne money by special order. It was decided that the currency of the loan suuuld he 33 years, and the rate of interest per cent. Repayment is to be provided for by a sinking fund.
