HOCKEY.
ASHBURTON TOURNAMENTS. Three Yankee and one knock-out tournaments were played on the Ashburton Domain grounds on Saturday afternoon under the auspices of the Ashburton Women’s Hockey Association. The grounds were in excellent order and the weather was fine. At the close of. the competitions the trophies were presented to the winners in the several sections by the president (Mr E. Davidson), who congratulated the winners. The results were: —
Senior A Grade. Tinwald 2» points, Old Girls 2, Hinds ]J, Mount Somers nil. The winning- team was: A. Loach, N. Loach, I. Haack, M. Henderson, P. Baker and F. Gudsell. Senior B Grade. Methven 4 points, Loweliffe 3, Baring Square 2, Mount Somers 1, Tinwalii The winning team was: J. Cleeve, E. Oretney, E. Sullivan, L. Watson, O. Williams and E. Cleeve. Junior Grade. Hinds 3) points, Tinwald 2}-, Methven A 2), High School 1, Methven B J. The winning team was: M. Grayburn, O. Davison, M. Reddecliffe M. Donaldson, J. Sim, M. Joiner and A. Musson. Schools’ Grade. First Round —Loweliffe A defeated Loweliffe B, 4-0; Hinds B defeated High School, 3-0. Semi-finals—Low-cliff e A defeated Hinds B, 2-0; Hinds A defeated Methven, 1-0. Final — Loweliffe A defeated Hinds A, 1-0. The winning team was: G. Ownsworth, P. Hawke, El. Dutton, J. Hansen, J. Woodlram, J. Harris and L. Skinner. The referees were Messrs E. Davidson, E. M. Gabites, A. G. McHardy, S. Johnson and C. Bishop. KAIAPOI V. ASHBURTON. A men’s hockey match, played at the Kaiapoi Park on Saturday afternoon, between the Kaiapoi and Ashburton Clubs, resulted in a win for Kaiapoi by 4 goals to 2.
