TIMARU WINS SOUTH ISLAND. /Per Press Association). DUNEDIN, September 14. The South Island elimination festival of the British Drama League was held in the concert hall to-night. The winning team, from the South Canterbury. section, was selected to compete in the national final at Hastings. Three teams took part in the festival to-niglit. They were the winning teams from Ottago, Canterbury and South Canterbury sections. The Canterbury College Drama Society represented Canterbury, and its choice, which the judge (Miss Elizabeth Blake) described as rather ambitious, was “The Sisters’ Tragedy,” by Richard Hughes. The South Canterbury section was represented by Tlie Readers, a Tiniaru society, who presented an admirably staged and acted play, “Kirconnel Lea,” by Gordon Bottomley.
