PEACE BUREAU

ESTABLISHMENT ADVOCATED.

(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, August 29.

The setting up of a peace bureau under the direction of the Minister of External Affairs Avas urged upon the GoA r ernment in a remit from Auckland which was considered at the annual conference of the NeAV Zealand League of Nations’ Union. A peace bureau, it Avas urged, Aims necessary for tlie supply of information about the League of Nations in order that the public might be educated. The success of the peace ballot held recently in Britain Avas referred to, but the opinion Avas expressed that the time was not yet ripe for such a ballot to be held in NeAv Zealand. More propaganda Avas needed first, and the formation of more branches of the Union.

The conference decided to issue a statement summarising the result of the peace ballot held in Britain.
