CHARGES OF THEFT
GOODS STOLEN IN NEW PLYMOUTH.

Twenty-eight charges of theft Avere brought against a husband and Avife and another man in the Magistrate’s Court to-day. The articles involved Avere of a total value of £6O, and ranged from deck chairs to clothing and utensils. One of the charges, that of theft from a dwelling, avas indictable. On tho jomainder, pleas of guilty avoio entered to 26, and the Magistrate, Mr W. H. Woodward, S.M., said he would announce on Saturday morning his decision whether counsel’s application for probation should he granted, and ho AA'ould also dlecide' Avhether tho indictable charge should he reduced so that it could be dealt Avith summarily. 'Phe names Avere suppressed in the meantime.
One of the charges relating to the theft of a spanner Avas dismissed. The period of the thefts av«:s stated to lie August 22, 1934, to August 22, 19.15, although one accused only became concerned in May, 1935. The goods were stolen from washhouses, clothes lines 5 and motor-cars.
