THREE FOR RAKAIA DISTRICT. PURCHASE BY MR A. S. HOLMES. (From a Correspondent.) LONDON, July 27. A number of Clydesdale horses are being taken out to Australia. Wit l these will be three which will be de livered in New Zealand. They were bought by Mr A. S. Holmes, Holmeslee, Rakaia, during Ins recent visit to this country, when lie visited most oi the leading Clydesdale studs. First is the two-year-old. colt Jerviswood Ideal, bred by Messrs G. and R. Findlater, Jerviswood Mains, Lanark, and foaled on June 3, 1933. His sue was Craigie Beau Ideal, and his dam the well-known prize-winner Jerviswood Queen, by Benefactor. His second dam, Queen of Hearts (56272), by High Degree (14703), was the dam of All’s Well; third dam, Lady Mac (44038), by Montrave Mac. (99o8), a long-lived son of Macgregor (1487), and the Cawdor Cup champion Montraye Maud, by the celebrated Prince ol Wales; fourth dam, Polly McGlean by Baron’s Pride (9122). Jerviswood Ideal is a thickly-made colt built on carthorse lines, and quite like making a desirable stallion. Next is the three-year-old stallion Dunduff Oheyne, second at the Glasgow Summer Show this year. He was bred by Mr James Oheyne, Upperton, Cairnbanne, New Deer. His sire was Dunduff Volume, while his dam was the thick, weightly mare, Buchan Beauty (50278), by Benefactor; second dam, Upperton Daisy (57510), by Gallant Stewart (16603); third dam, Bonnie Nellie (39294), by the famous Prince ot Carruchan (8151). Dunduff Oheyne, another of the weighty order, is big, nicely set on his legs, and a distinctly useful animal. The third is the two-year-old filly Lady Onvoll, bred by Mr Campbell S. Crawford, South Branchal, Kilmacolm. Her sire was Orwell (22128), a son oi the Cawdor Cup champion Satisfaction ; while her dam, Branchal Factiess (60941), was by Benefactor; her second dam, Chapel Maureen (60940), was by Footprint Sensation, a popular premium horse of Kintyre; third dam, Lacly Dunlop, by Auclienffower; fourth dam, Dunure Nellie, by Baron of Buchlyvie; fifth dam by Hiawatha (1006/). Lady Orwell is a- classy filly up to quite a nice size, nicely turned in her quaiters, and flashy in her legs. At both the walk and trot she goes straight and close, and is altogether a desirable type.
