HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT.
The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated August 24, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London : Tallow —Quiet demand at auction. Of the 239 casks offered, 182 w T ere sold. Present quotations are: Mutton, fine 33s 6d, fair to good 27s 6d to 31s, dark to dull 24s to 255; heel', sweet and/or mixed 28s to 30s, fair to good 25s _6d to 27s 6d, dark to dull 23s 6d to 25s ; mixed, fair to good 25s 6d to 27s 6d, dark to dull 24s to 255; gut, etc., 23s "to 2-ss. 4 Fruit—Apples: Practically cleared. Current places are, Dougherty 12s to 16s, Sturmer 10s to 14s. THE SHARE MARKET. The following sales were made on the Christchurch Stock Exchange yesterday : LISTED STOCKS.
