CHICAGO, August 10.

Surgeons to-day removed a goitre from the throat of Madame Galli-Curci, the) famous singer, while she sang scales so that they could study liow the operation might affect her .voice. She had a local anaesthetic.

The goitre had pushed her windpipe an inch and three-quarters to the left.

The surgeons believe the operation will increase tlie tone and volume of her voice considerably.
