THE GREEK CROWN
OPPOSITION TO MONARCH.
SEVERAL STRIKES REPORTED.
CONDITIONS FOR KING’S RETURN
(United Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 12.45 p.m.) LONDON, July 26.
The Athens correspondent of the “Daily Herald” says that strikes against the restoration of the monarchy broke out in several towns in Greece.
Fifteen thousand struck at Civalla, paralysing activity. One hundred deputies and 1000 Athens lawyers and University professors declared in favour of a republic. The former King George has prepared a set of conditions for his return. He demands a plebiscite, free and unhampered by himself, to decide whether there is a majority sufficient to warrant his return. .
