TO REDUCE UNEMPLOYMENT.

THE TRADES CONGRESS VIEWS'. (United Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 11.45 a.m.) LONDON, July 24. The possibility of reducing unemployment by, shortening the hours of employees was again discussed by the Trade Union Congress Council. The Minister of Labour (Mr ErnestBrown) said that since the previous meeting of the council on January 24 there had been 20 meetings with employers’ organisations. The Government would be pleased to reduce working hours if real agreement on a voluntary basis could be reached between the employers and the trade. The council undertook to consider the position and communicate, its views to the Minister.
